Instructions

  • If you’re interested solely in the recipe, skip this bullet point and keep on reading. Warm the raw milk.

  • Pour 10 oz of raw milk (ASHLEY20 for 20% off) into your cooking pot. It doesn't have to be exactly 10 oz. We use 12 oz mugs, so I usually pour milk into the mug to just above 3/4 of the way full, then I pour the milk into the pot.
  • Bring to medium heat and allow the milk to warm, but not boil. You don't want it to pasteurize. I can tell the milk is done warming when it starts to generate steam and a thin film. There is a picture of what the film looks like in the "Tips to make the best..." section above.
  • Once the milk generates steam for about 10-15 seconds and the film is present, remove it from heat. If your milk doesn't generate steam or a film, a good rule of thumb is that you should never see a bubble. Remove it from heat before it starts to bubble. You can also ballpark the temperature by hovering your hand over the top of the milk.

While your milk is warming, add the other ingredients (except for the honey and bananas) to your mug.

  • While your milk is warming, add the collagen powder, ghee, and sea salt (ASHLEYR for 15% off) to your mug.
  • Note: if you go through tons of salt in your household like we do, check out this salt purchasing hack that will save you money + make things more efficient. We started this last year, and I'm so happy we did!

When the milk is done warming, add it to the mug and mix.

  • When your milk is warm, pour it into the mug and stir to incorporate the collagen, ghee and salt. I usually have to stir mine for about 30 seconds to make sure everything is mixed in well.
  • Add the raw honey (ASHLEYR for 10% off) and stir for another 10-15 seconds.
  • Add your sliced bananas, then serve and enjoy! Dates are a wonderful addition to the drink too, so that's another option if you prefer dates to bananas.
  • Note: the longer you leave the bananas soaking, the more of a banana-y flavor the milk gets. :)
